PDR PRO-II

The importance of closed-body Kydex holsters in the competitive shooting world today, especially in production and IDPA categories, led DAA to design the DAA PDR PRO II competition holster.  DAA believes in constantly striving to improve their products, and the innovations in the DAA PDR PRO-II holster reflects that philosophy completely.

DAA focused long and hard on their PDR PRO holster design, while interviewing hundreds of customers to obtain their valuable feedback and as a result, they decided to make some integral changes to further improve the product.

This resulted in intense design changes which were initially geared to the rail, the part which joins the belt hanger ball-joint and the holster body.  DAA upgraded this from plastic to aluminum, and redesigned the manner in which the height adjustment and vertical lock-up are achieved. The PDR PRO-II now has a set-screw in the ball itself, which can be accessed from its inner side, to allow the user the ability of height adjustment to any position, not just in the predetermined 10 mm steps as previously. Additionally, the height adjustment can now be achieved without dismantling the holster and without losing any of the other settings.

The new rail attaches to the holster body in alignment to the pistol’s slide, which increases the range of adjustment in the ball joint, which in turn allows the user to bring the pistol much closer to the body than with the previous rail design.

The holster body itself has undergone several improvements as well. The high inner-flap which previously covered most pistols’ safeties has been lowered, allowing for a more complete in-the-holster shooting-grip. The material has been modified slightly thinner improving precision  in the fit and retention of the pistol. Additionally, the tension spacers have been modified and improved as well. The cut-out in the front of the holster body has been lowered more, to facilitate faster, more improved  holster clearance.

Of course the excellent features of the PDR PRO line have been retained: the slick fast unlined body, the advanced ball joint belt hanger with its wide range of adjustability, and the slim-line retention bars and spacers for use on competition belts ranging from 1.5”-2.0” in width.  Available only in Black, for right or left-handed shooters.

This is the third holster I’ve bought for my CZ Shadow 2 and it is my last. I had the Double Alpha Race Holster, as well as the BladeTech Speed Rig and I’ve lost count how many times my gun has fallen out of those for one reason or another. If you can’t trust your holster to retain your handgun, it starts to affect your concentration. Shot a Steel Match today using the PDR Pro-II for the first time and this holster is amazing, I never thought about the holster once wondering whether my gun was secure and shot my best match yet, go figure. Fully adjustable for height and cant as well as a retaining knob to tighten or loosen the holster on the gun. When the retaining knob is tight, there is nothing you can do to pull the gun from the holster, intentionally or unintentionally. A few quick turns to loosen and the gun slides out like butter. This holster is going to make me enjoy shooting IPSC again. I seriously can not recommend this holster enough.

Honest review here. Having a drawer full of holsters like most of us do, I had high hopes for this holster due to all the reviews. Unfortunately, when I received mine, it looked like it was made by someone who had just learned how to vacuum form. Fold was completely off, cuts were uneven, holes lining up the thumbscrew was misaligned and screw looks like it was just shoved in there. Quality assurance surely was lacking. Retention was ok. Tightening the thumbscrew removed some of the sloppiness, but it also made it a pain to draw smoothly. Unfortunately, I had to use it in a competition. Only good thing is the actual mount itself. Into the junk holster drawer it goes. When I got home, I ordered the Ghost thunder holster, which having received it, is way better fit and finish wise. And $30 less.

Very nice holster. I ask all the time at our shoots what kind of rig I have. I will be ordering the IDPA Pro 2. I did not realize that this holster is not IDPA approved. Total my error. But does work very well.

I purchased this holster for my Sig 1911 MAX. The holster fits the gun perfectly. The ability to adjust the holster to the most comfortable position is amazing and it is very stable on the belt. 100% satisfaction!

Fitting

Q. My pistol will not fit correctly into the PDR-Pro II holster

In some cases, it can be just one point or corner in the holster that is formed wrong and clashes with one point on the gun… and these kind of things are easily fixed:

Open the tension screws and insert the gun.Tighten the tension screws as much as possible – applying pressure onto the gun, locking it firmly in the holsterUsing a heat gun, or even a hairdryer, apply heat to the Kydex, focus...
