Very disappointed that these did not fit any of my Tanfoglio Witness Pro/Elite/P Match frames. :(

Picked up a set to work on dry-fire with my Sig Sauer XFive. Great investment, has definitely improved the consistency of my drills and I don't worry about making mistakes and damaging my actual mags.

I like the weight of the magazines. Makes it feel like you have a fully loaded magazine. Great for practicing up loads and down loads with beginners. Great for combat/speed reloads. My magazines for my gun don't get a beating. These are all around great for training.

Just received my package after being on backorder...

This things are great - my normal magazines would take abuse by either falling on the ground or having their feed lips contacting the magwell, causing all the dents in the bottom of it. I would have a single dedicated magazine for insertion on...

I'm reviewing the P320 version.
Great fit and finish, work flawlessly in my 320 X5 Legion/Carry Optics gun.
They drop free without issue. Feels like the real thing when reloading from mag pouch. Recommended to bring your dry fire to the next level!

Pros- Mags feel good in my hands. I can drop them on concrete floors without damage. I can rack my slide while mags are in without any problems. They fit in the new funnel type magwells.

Cons- They are lighter than my fully loaded mags with dummy rounds.

The Practice mags are sure better than using your existing mags to practice reloads. You never have to worry about any ammo getting into your gun. Much safer, and they are weighted like a real mag with some ammo in it.

Un my Glocks, I use a G35Gen3 with G22Gen3 change system, they work perfectly.
They are held and reloading works.
Also in my G19Gen3, for concealed carrying, they work without problems.

Dry fire is hard work! No one likes doing it, but those who do - will surely better their skills set if they would spend 10-15min a day dry firing. I have used different magazines over the years for dry fire from dummy mags to the real deal while damaging them more often than not but slamming...

Combo: DAA Dry-Fire Practice Mag, Pack of 3

Manufacturers: Double-Alpha Academy
Dry-Fire Magazines Note
The dry-fire magazine does not reset your trigger!

Description:

Pack of 3 - DAA Dry Fire Practice Magazine

The DAA Dry-Fire Practice Magazine is designed to emulate as closely as possible the feel and performance of a fully loaded real magazine. It allows you to dry-fire without introducing dummy loaded rounds to weigh down real magazines, which can be risky, and saves wear on your real mags.

Using internal steel weights, it comes close to the actual weight of a fully loaded mag, and the Patent-Pending spring-loaded follower on the top of the mag pushing up against the slide as you insert it into the gun, making the reload feel just like the real thing!

The tension on the follower makes not only the insertion feel realistic, but also ensures that the magazine does not rattle around in the gun while you train, when you hit the mag-release, it ejects under some tension, just like the real thing. The mag and follower are design NOT to activate the slide stop so you can practice racking the slide as you load, without having it lock back.

No ammo of any kind can be loaded into these magazines, helping to keep your dry-fire safe and ammo-free. The purple color and red follower make it clear to all that these are not real magazines and that no live ammo is in play.

The DAA Dry-Fire Practice Mag is constructed of durable fiber-reinforced nylon, and can take a beating. But we still recommend to avoid dropping the mags onto a concrete floor, as they are heavy and some damage may occur. Some customers have had breakage of the upper lips when dropping on concrete! Dropping onto tiled floors may damage both the floor and the magazine!
We recommend dropping onto a carpeted floor or something that can absorb the impact.

We have tried to design the base pads of the magazines to fit with most magwells, however, it is possible that some magwells may prevent the magazine from seating all the way. Fortunately, these magazines can easily be filed on with a file or dremmel tool to fit your particular magwell type.

Please note:
We do not recommend using these dry-fire mags in combination with the CoolFireTrainer!
The high speed motion of the slide created by the CFT, combines with the spring loaded follower pushing up, causes the magazine to bounce violently as the gun cycles.
This leads to excessive wear around the mag catch area and can render them unusable.

Will these mags fits my gun?

It is impossible for us to say for sure if the magazine will fit your particular gun model. There are over 150 brands of 1911’s and probably 30 or more high cap 2011 frames on the market. There are many generations of Glocks too, and a bunch of CZ’s. It’s impossible for us to test them all.

What we can say is this:

The 1911 model mag was modelled from a Megar 1911 8 round .45 mag. If such a mag fits your gun, so should the DAA Dry-fire Mag.

The 2011 model mag was modelled from an STI 140mm 38S mag. If such a mag fits your gun, so should the DAA Dry-fire Mag.

The Glock magazine was modelled from a 9mm G17 Gen4 mag. If such a mag fits your gun, so should the DAA Dry-fire Mag.

The CZ magazine was modelled from a SP01 9mm mag, and testing in the Shadow2 as well. If such a mag fits your gun, so should the DAA Dry-fire Mag.

The SIG320 mag was modelled from a P320 9mm mag, and tested on the P320X5 as well. If such a mag fits your gun, so should the DAA Dry-fire Mag.

*** it is possible that you may need to remove a little plastic from the base pad of the magazine to fit your magwell.

Just received my package after being on backorder...

This things are great - my normal magazines would take abuse by either falling on the ground or having their feed lips contacting the magwell, causing all the dents in the bottom of it. I would have a single dedicated magazine for insertion on reloads that would double as a Barnie in matches, it would have two dummy rounds on top and I wouldn't care too much about feed lips, but the rest of the magazines would be the ones dropping on the floor. Sure carpet helps, but I would still see the retaining pins on basepads move over time. And, the weight wasn't right. I'm not a big fan of playing with primer-less rounds loaded with my usual bullets. Too much room for error.

These are not metal and feel much gentler on the magwell (when I miss the reload; in reality, I don't care about the magwell, I care about the real magazines). They are also the correct weight (not sure whether it's equivalent of 20 rounds of 180's, but it definitely feels like a loaded magazine). Then, they have what looks like a follower on top and was a bit confusing initially, but then I realized that it's supposed to simulate the top round, with slight springiness to it, to emulate the correct pressure during insert. Makes it quite realistic, similar to what I was doing with dummy rounds.

What's not to like? Solves all the problems.

Disclosure: I have literally just opened the package and tried it out for a while. Unless these magazines fall apart (I train every day) they are worth every penny. Even if they deteriorate after a few months, it would be money well spent.

The folks at Double Alpha have done a splendid job on this product. It does everything that it is advertised to do. I purchased CZ magazines for my Shadow 2, and so far they are doing a wonderful job, which I will explain:
1. Their shape and feel closely follow those of a loaded 18 round magazine. Now I can do reloads with a more realistic magazine and gun weight, so that I'm not caught by surprise at the weight of a magazine during live fire. Magazine drops and insertions feel just the same as the real thing. My mag release is configured for a a left handed shooter and the practice magazine works just fine.
2. Real magazines are subjected to less wear as they are no longer subject to being dropped during dry fire. Another bonus is that there's no anxiety over the possibility of introducing live ammo to your dry fire routine.
3. The simulated followers do not cause the slide stop to stop the slide, which is a very welcome addition!
Very warmly recommended!

I have used different magazines over the years for dry fire from dummy mags to the real deal while damaging them more often than not but slamming them repeatedly on the floor (ouch, that is expensive). Finally I came across the Double Alpha mags! Man, these are sweat!! The lock snugly into my CZ Shadow 2 and release like a charm. No brainer really.
