 |
Deleana Saylor, at 12 years of age and winner of the Pre-Teen
Division of the 2007 & 2008 Steel Challenge, has been involved with
firearms both long guns and handguns since she was six years old. She
started helping her older brother (see Chris above) to prepare for
matches by helping with the reloading process, i.e.,filling primer
tubes, cleaning and sorting brass, and
eventually helping at the range. By the time she was seven, she was
able to demonstrate to older female students how to overcome their fear
of firearms. At nine years of age she demonstrated how to safely
handle, fire, clear a jam, reload, complete a course and safely unload
a firearm to an audience of 30 Naval Sea Cadets. At 10 years of Age,
with only one IPSC match under her belt, Deleana trained diligently
with her Dad and older brother and safely and successfully competed in
her first Steel
Challenge Championship. Her goal is to win the pre-teen event (Her
Brother won it in 2006). CED welcomes Deleana to the CED Junior Team.
